Sophy Copland (Chair)

Sophy was appointed Chair of Senscot in June 2007 and is the Chief Executive of Instant Neighbour, a well respected social enterprise operating in the North East of Scotland. Sophy is also a panel member of the Prince's Scottish Youth Business Trust, a Board Member of Grampian HA and a Burgess of Guild for the City of Aberdeen. www.instantneighbour.co.uk

Rodney Stares (Hon Treasurer)

Rodney was a founder member of Senscot and has been the Treasurer of Senscot since its inception 10 years ago. Trained as an economist, Rodney has experience of business finance and accounting, as well as economic development policy and practice. Rodney also has extensive expertise in database software development and his caseload management software is the most widely used programme among community and family mediation services.

Laurence Demarco

In 1999, Laurence co-founded Senscot and has served as a Director since then. Laurence has wide experience of community development and a strong commitment to local empowerment and decision-making. Laurence produces the Senscot e-bulletin which goes out weekly to over 4,000 people and currently contributes to briefing papers produced by Local People Leading. www.senscot.net

Liz Gardiner

Liz is a founder member, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Fablevision, a Govan based social enterprise that has successfully operated in the cultural sector for over 20 years. Most recently, Fablevision has launched Transform TV, a community TV channel for Glasgow, run by young people featuring their issues and ideas. www.fablevision.org

Phil Denning

Phil has a background in cultural planning and education and is a director of a number of community organistions and social enterprises across the UK. Phil also has extensive experience in both strategic development at executive level and practical delivery of education programmes linking the formal and informal education sectors at local, regional and national levels.

John Findlay

A qualified social worker, John spent 30 years working in the public and voluntary sector in Glasgow and West of Scotland. John currently works on a freelance basis with a variety of organisations with a particular interest in holistic approaches, combining social, emotional and economic interventions. Over the years he has been involved in the setting up and development of a number of social enterprises mainly in the field of training and childcare.

Foster Evans

Foster is the Director of Employers in Voluntary Housing - supporting social employers, the employers organisation for housing associations and other social employers. EVH offers a unique and extensive range of personnel / human resources services to its 180 member organisations. Foster has been on five housing association and co-operative committees over the last 20 years. www.evh.org.uk

Les Huckfield

Leslie has lived in Scotland for the last five years. His experience in policy making, funding and delivery follows a track record of delivering more than £100mn of funding packages, after a high profile political career in the House of Commons and the European Parliament.

Jackie Dunsmuir

Jackie is co-founder and Chief Executive of Recycle Fife, a Fife based social enterprise, which has been successfully operating in the waste management sector for the last 7 years. Set up not only to divert waste from landfill but to create employment and provide people in the local area with a clear route out of poverty and unemployment and into a trade. Jackie has had a varied career, and has extensive experience in the public, private and third sector. She is passionate about the environment and has a strong commitment to socal justice and believes that having social aims makes businesses stronger.


Staff

Aidan Pia (Executive Director)

Aidan joined Senscot in 2002 and is responsible for co-ordinating Senscot's activities on a day to day basis. In particular, Aidan oversees the development of new services and setting up new initiatives such as Scotland UnLtd, DTA Scotland, the Social Enterprise Academy and more recently, First Port.

Colin Campbell (Development Manager)

Colin joined Senscot in 2003 as Network Development Manager and is responsible for setting up and supporting Local Social Enterprise Networks across Scotland. Colin has worked for a variety of voluntary organisations over the last 10 years and areas of work include business administration, teaching, fundraising and development work. Colin also heads up a social enterprise to promote best practice in social capital.

Kim Wallace (Networks Coordinator)

Kim has experience working for the public, private and third sector. The last 10 years have been spent working in the Third Sector on a number of roles and projects, areas of work include a wide range of employability projects, development work, european funded projects including EQUAL - Social Economy Scotland Project which attracted significant funds to social enterprise development and influenced the first social enterprise strategy in Scotland. Kim joined Senscot as Networks Coordinator in October 2009.

Diane Cameron (Social Enterprise & Sports Co-ordinator)

Diane has a mix of skills with a marketing background and many years experience working for voluntary sector projects. She has spent almost 5 years supporting aspiring and established social enterprises via roles with a local LSEP and more recently with Community Enterprise. In additon she ran her own business for 10 years delivering personal and business develoment training with many clients both paid and pro bono from the voluntary sector. She has a keen interest in sport having coached basketball for 12 years. Diane joined Senscot in April 2010.

Anna Roscoe (Network Development Officer)

Over the last 10 years Anna has worked with Social Enterprises involved in outdoor pursuits, maintenance, catering and community development, both in the UK and overseas. After studying Management at University she completed a specialist programme in Social Enterprise Management with the School for Social Entreprenuers and Kilncraigs Incubator Unit in Alloa. More recently she was involved in starting up the Social Enterprise Network in Clackmannanshire before joining Senscot in May 2008.

Karina Rona (Office Administrator)

Karina joined Senscot in May 2008 having worked previously at the University of Edinburgh and the Scottish Arts Council. Originally from New Zealand, Karina has been living in Edinburgh for the past 2 years. Karina is the first point of contact at Senscot and provides general administrative support to the rest of the Senscot team. She also administers the financial systems.

Victoria Pearce (Operations)

Victoria began working for Senscot in October 2007 after three years with the Scottish Social Enterprise Coalition. Victoria has experience of event organisation, financial management, business development and research. Her role at Senscot is to oversee the smooth running of the organisation, report to funders and supporters and manage Senscot's events.

Varda Mehrotra (IT Programme Developer)

After completing a Masters in Cognitive Science at Edinburgh University, Varda joined Senscot in 2005. Varda specialises in artificial intelligence and knowledge based systems and is responsible for developing Senscot's website, databases and other systems. Most recently, Varda has developed an online register as part of the Ready for Business initiative- a procurement database designed to link social enterprises with other business sectors. Varda is also involved with an animal rights organisation called Ethical Voice for Animals which promotes a vegan lifestyle and campaigns against fur.
