Job Role : We are looking for an experienced Manager to work for Mayfield and Easthouses Youth 2000 Project (Y2K), a youth organisation that has now been established for 10 years.
Y2K is a well used resource within our local community and we are looking for a dynamic individual who has the right experience, skills and attitude to take forward the organisation’s mission to provide a high quality youth work service for young people.
You will have overall responsibility for the effective management of the organisation. Your role will include strategic development, staff management, funding and finance management. You will have experience in effective leadership and team building skills with a track record of securing funding and developing projects. This role is essential to ensuring the long term sustainability of the organisation.
Organisation Profile : Y2K is a community-based youth organisation in the Mayfield and Easthouses area. We aim to support young people aged 11-18yrs, within an informal educational setting through the delivery of a high quality youth work service. Y2K is predominantly a centre based provider of youth provision but in addition we have a distinct model of detached engagement work that targets some of the area’s hardest to reach young people and is delivered as part of the Midlothian Street Work Partnership.
The programme at Y2K has significantly developed since it was established ten years ago. Initially operating as a drop-in service offering young people a safe and supportive environment in the evenings, it continues to offer this provision throughout the week, as well as a number of additional core services that offer young people a wide level of support. Our programme includes single sex work, weekly sports-based activities, a one-to-one support service (Y2K+), an alternative curriculum programme (Green Banana Referral), Youth Reps Programme, street based work and youth participation opportunities. We also support the development of two social enterprises; Green Banana Media and Midlothian Garden Services.
