REQUIPIT is a social enterprise with three main aims:
• Refurbishment and resale of domestic appliances, computer equipment and other small electrical products primarily as a wholesaler to the charity sector, landlords and other retailers.
• The training of vulnerable people to become domestic appliance engineers, PAT testers and computer technicians.
• To divert waste electrical and electronic equipment from the waste stream through refurbishment and reuse.
REQUIPIT was founded in 2005 by Bethany Christian Trust and Raj Mair of Innovation IT. Initially the business focused purely on IT refurbishment and Bethany ran a separate workshop focusing on electrical appliance refurbishment. The merger of these two businesses has given brand identity to the already successful electrical appliance refurbishment business and enabled future expansion to other markets particularly to the trade, landlords and other charity retailers.
REQUIPIT works with major manufacturers including Beko, Hotpoint, Hoover, Amica and Indesit. We also work with major retailers such as the John Lewis Partnership and Ikea to provide take back schemes and are fully licensed under the Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment regulations by SEPA.
REQUIPIT are members of many trade associations including the Domestic Appliance Service Association (DASA), UK Whitegoods, and the Furniture Re-use Network, these memberships ensure quality and best practice. We are registered under the F-Gas regulations for refrigerants and all our refrigeration engineers are ACRIB certified.
REQUIPIT provides white goods to many not for profit organisations such as Bethany’s Homemaker service and several other charity retailers such as the British Heart Foundation, British Red Cross, DebRA, St Giles Hospice and The Bethany Shops.
REQUIPIT provides apprenticeship training in domestic appliance engineering, for more information see the apprenticeship scheme page.
REQUIPIT profits go directly to Bethany Christian Trust to help fund their work with homeless and vulnerable people throughout Scotland.
