Gate Enterprises was born from a desire to grow and expand the magnificent work already being undertaken by Ludgate Church Volunteers in support of the homeless in our community. Homelessness has become a major issue and priority within our community, and indeed within Scotland. The existing premises and provision is no longer sufficient to meet the demand. ‘The Gate’ Charity will be set up to meet the growing need and to take the first step towards their long term aspiration to own and manage a building fit for purpose and their proposed expansion plans. Their aim is to expand the services and provision for homeless and other vulnerable groups within our community by offering a safe and welcoming environment where they can provide an interface at the point of need.
Gate Enterprises will provide leadership, management and efficiencies to help make ’The Gate’ and other 3rd Sector initiatives long term and sustainable projects.
Our professional approach will support our ‘clients and projects’ to develop the necessary skills and behaviours appropriate to providing quality services.
We will collaborate with others to develop and deliver services that support the sector, and make connections between local and national services provided throughout Scotland.
We will work to ensure that the impact of our support makes a real difference.
Transforming a vision into reality and providing the community with a service and facility to be proud of.
Through the Soup Pot and Starter Packs a greater need has been identified.
In partnership with the Local Authority, Community Health and other Third Sector partners the aim is to transform a Church building into a:
• Community Cafè
• Drop in Centre for the homeless, and those marginalised by lack of opportunity, skills and aspirations.
• Space for skills development and training
• Business suite for rental
Ludgate Church has offered a building for this work. Grant funding is being sought to make this vision a reality.
To serve the needs of the community by offering practical help and choices for positive change. We will provide a safe and welcoming environment that is open to all, particularly the vulnerable, marginalised and homeless. A place where everyone will be treated equally, with dignity and recognized for their individual unique worth. We will work to provide opportunities to build confidence, release potential and realise aspirations that all have an equal place in our community.
