Run Native is an online market place, created by social enterprise for social enterprise launching in November 2012.
We aim to support social enterprises to create great brands, product offers and online marketing skills to seize the potential that e-commerce offers for small producers.
We understand that many social enterprises managers simply don’t have the time or resource to set-up and promote their own online shop. Even for those that do have an online presence, it can be a challenge to reach an audience beyond the local market. Run Native aims to meet both these challenges by collectively marketing products from social enterprises across the UK - allowing small social enterprises to reach a much broader, national audience.
Run Native launches in November 2012 with fantastic products from across the UK. You will find an eclectic mix of gifts from high fashion to upcycled furniture to stationary to chocolate.
The Story Behind Run Native
Run Native was originated by a small passionate team at Community Enterprise. For 25 years, Community Enterprise has worked with community based social enterprises in Scotland and the team spend time in both remote rural and busy urban places in Scotland working with charities and community businesses.
The team are constantly amazed by the interesting, high quality, products made and sold by these organisations - from luxury soap hand-made by people with disabilities in Inverness to tartan dog-coats designed by homeless people in Edinburgh – but they can be hard to find.
The team thought, what if we could do our Christmas shopping online, and buy social gifts in one place… gifts that delight friends and family but also directly help vulnerable and disadvantaged people by investing the profit in charities and social enterprises.
That’s when Run Native was born. A collective online marketplace that helps customers find unique gifts, and ethical producers find more customers for their products.
Run Native is for people who want to buy unique things for themselves, their friends and families. But these things are extra special. These unique, often beautiful, hand-made gifts have stories. Their very creation and sale has a powerful impact on people’s lives.
