Dunbar Community Bakery Limited is a community co-operative that is owned by its members and is accountable to them.
It was registered as an Industrial and Provident Society, Register No 2714RS on June 4th 2009.
By investing as a shareholder you will become a member of the co-operative. All shareholders have just one vote, no matter how much money they contribute.
You will be helping to build a positive future for our community, supporting a regenerated High Street and the local production of wholesome and nutritious food.
At The Bakery Dunbar, they want to put the heart back into the loaf and the community. Their team of bakers, led by Ross Baxter, is passionate about every aspect of baking. Not content with making everyday baked goods and cakes (their pastry is made by hand daily and is used in their pies, bridies and sausage rolls), they are producing high quality bread and top notch French patisserie.
Using the best ingredients and traditional, time-tested recipes, Ross and his team work 24 hours a day to give customers fresh bread and cakes every morning. Their doughs are slowly fermented and risen, then retarded in special linen cloths for a minimum of 16 hours; a technique used to gain flavour and prolong shelf life naturally, as no chemicals are used in their breads.
They work in partnership with local growers and mills to provide us with fine flours.
Their belief is in quality over quantity and have elected to keep our product base small, this is to enable and ensure consistency throughout.The bakery will be adding to its repertoire every month, so keep coming in as there is bound to be something new to try.
