Yooz is a ground breaking Reuse & Recycling project for building materials, the first of its kind in Scotland... the Yooz project started in the summer of 2009 and we have already diverted over 1,000 tonnes from going to landfill in our first 18 months
It is a social enterprise that provides an environmentally and socially responsible way to keep good, reusable materials out of the waste stream. It aims to use all profits from selling on these materials to help its parent charity (Active4All) fund and build a brand new £10million Scottish Sporting Centre of Excellence for disabled people.
Yooz collects surplus / unwanted materials from Construction companies, Civil Engineers, Local Councils as well as the general public. In addition they also offer collection / clearance services for Office and House contents at a low cost.
Yooz aims to ReUse the vast majority of items that we collect, with the remainder being Recycled.
100% of its stock is comprised of donated materials.
They provide a collection and clearance service to businesses and the general public across the central belt of Scotland.
Numerous Construction / Building Companies, Civil Engineers, tradesmen as well as the general public have used its services - to the extent that they have diverted over 1400 tonnes from landfill in its first 2 years in operation.
They are able to collect a wide range of materials, either new or used, that are otherwise surplus / unwanted but still fit for ReUse, for example:
Bricks; Blocks; Slabs; Paving; Roof tiles; Slates; Tiles; Pallets; Kerb stones, Fencing slats & posts; Timber doors; Piping; Plumbing and Drainage materials; Electrical fittings; Office Furniture; Insulation; Kingspan; Textiles; Clothes; Books.
They are able to carry out one off collections or scheduled daily / weekly / monthly collections - whatever suits your needs best.
They are also able to collect materials from right across the central belt of Scotland.
