Inspire Ventures is the social enterprise arm of Inspire - a leading North East charity supporting those with learning disabilities - and consists of Café Coast and Meeting Rooms and Café Academy.
By choosing to dine in Café Coast, you are making a difference to the lives of hundreds of individuals throughout the North East of Scotland that depend on the services they offer. The café won the Established Enterprise of the Year award at Aberdeen Council of Voluntary Organisations (ACVO)'s Insight Aberdeen event on Saturday 20th July, in recognition of its work as a social enterprise in the city.
Café Academy is a unique training for employment scheme which aims to open opportunities into mainstream employment, increase social and economic independence, and break down barriers that are experienced by individuals with learning disabilities and additional support needs. Each year it provides the chance for up to fifty people to improve their opportunity of accessing mainstream employment.
Simon Stevenson, Chef Manager at Café Coast, tells more about the award: "Winning the Established Enterprise of the Year award is great recognition for the café. We have been working hard to develop the restaurant and have achieved this with the introduction of new menus and promotions, as well as our recent expansion into Aberdeen's city library café. Our training for employment programme Café Academy helps fulfil our objectives as a social enterprise, and it's great to see the restaurant recognised for the work we have done to date."
