Velocity is a cafe and bicycle workshop based in Inverness - with the aim of helping people get on their bicycles and promote a healthy, happy lifestyle.
They work with organisations to deliver bespoke bicycle maintenance and riding confidence, and safer routes to work sessions.
They offer short-term bike loans to people who don’t have a bicycle but want to give cycling a try before buying their own. Also - check out their Paper Bikes (www.paper-bicycle.com)
Other initiatives include:
• The Fix Your Own Bicycle Workshop - offering access to the tools, the space and the experience of at least one bicycle mechanic on hand will allow you to fix your bicycle, potter, learn and explore new skills.
• Go ByCycle is the new cycling outreach project from Velocity -funded by the Scottish Govt`s Climate Challenge Fund to go out and work with schools and workplaces across Inverness
• Cycletherapy is a youth project that engages young people whose needs are not being met through mainstream education. Using mountain biking as a medium (riding bikes and fixing them), Cycletherapy challenges the negative ways these young people think and feel about themselves to help them change their destructive behaviours.
• The Velocity cafe is a homely place serving local food - specialities include bicyclattes and campagcinnos.
The Café also runs film nights, speakers, music evenings, pop up dinners …..plus more
