Modo is a social circus company, based in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire - using circus to engage young people across Aberdeenshire and to help them to change their lives for the better. Harnessing the skills and thrills of circus, Modo helps young people to improve life chances, skills, confidence and self-esteem while celebrating and creating the culture and community of the region.
Working closely with partners, Modo provides young people with positive, progressive and accredited activities, and contributes widely to providing positive pathways for young people.
Although Modo is possibly best known for its large scale celebrations of culture and community, Modo works on a variety of levels, and really it is often in the process that the “real” work is done.
Its work can range from one off workshops as tasters, as ice breakers, as a team building exercise or to tackle more specific issues with the group, to CircoModo programmes, to larger events showcasing a range of achievements.
Modo also contributes to a number of local events such as Galas, transition days, local festivals and events, and even Christmas lights.
Modo is committed to finding ways to engage, and to inspire, the very widest cross section of the population. This has led to a wide range of work:
One-off Circus Workshops; CircoModo Programmes; Targeted projects; and Community extravaganzas and events
Modo creates participatory projects ranging from a single group performing to their peers to hundreds of participants coming together to create a huge spectacular. They also provide tailored circus workshops in circus to cater for all ages and abilities - working across Aberdeenshire and Scotland.
