Peterhead Projects Ltd
Peterhead Projects Limited is a social enterprise company - owned and led by members of the community - and limited by guarantee.
It was founded in February 2009 to initiate new projects in the community and relies on its own projects for self sufficiency. To further its aims the company requires to generate income through social enterprises, with all profits made being re-invested in the community.
Peterhead Projects is looking for community involvement to identify new initiatives to be undertaken both in Peterhead and the wider Buchan community.
Among their existing projects are 2ReUse Recycling, the Lido Caravan Park, the Buchan Meadows Community Woodland project as well as other community regeneration initiatives.
Situated just a short stroll along the beachfront from the town centre with its array of shops and amenities, the caravan park offers 23 touring stances, with or without electricity, and with full access to toilet and shower facilities. There is also provision for both serviced and unserviced seasonal bookings.
2ReUse Recycling is a multi award-winning social enterprise focused on diverting waste from landfill and recycling all household items, clothing, bric-a-brac, toys, books, bikes and electrical items.
2ReUse is a wholly-owned subsidiary business of Peterhead Projects Limited and is the holder of two Green Apple Awards in bronze and gold which are given for innovative work in the community and the environment.
The 43-acres of Buchan Meadows Community Woodland is situated on the outskirts of Peterhead which is leased by PPL from owners Score Group for a guaranteed 10-year term.
With the employment of a Community Woodland Officer, they have been able to press on with the construction of a car park and path network to open up this community resource to the wider public. Other plans include planting other areas of woodland, building a pond and planting a wild flower meadow to improve the biodiversity of the site.
Staff and volunteers have also developed the outdoor classroom and fire pit area by clearing and improving the site with the help of volunteers throughout the year.
