Play Pieces Arts Ltd
Play Pieces Arts Ltd is the home of new theatre writing from the Highlands and manages and co-ordinates the popular Lunchtime Theatre Season and The Wee Theatre Festival.
Set up in 2011 by Lindsay Brown, Play Pieces Arts has grown and developed from the entrepreneurial idea to make theatre accessible to audiences and theatre makers in the Highlands and Islands. This has resulted in support for 18 companies and artists to create work in the Highland area and seen over 1000 people enjoy performances – all done without the support of core funding.
Play Pieces Lunchtime is a season of lunchtime theatre produced by Highland Theatre companies and artists. A performance is no longer than 1 hour and tickets are only £10 which includes your lunch too! After each show there will be a free post-show discussion for you to find out more about the company and the show you've just seen.
The Wee Theatre Festival is a festival of new writing and performance – and can take place anywhere in the Highlands and Islands.
Fast developing a reputation for innovative approaches to rural theatre production, Play Pieces Arts brought the Wee Theatre Festival to the Isle of Skye earlier this month. For one day only actors took over 5 iconic locations around the island to perform site-specific theatre based on the heritage of the land.
More recently, Play Pieces Arts has gained support from the Voluntary Action Fund to create 20 Event Experience Opportunities for young people in the Highlands which will include Event Management, Event Liaison and Technical strands.
These skills will be useful in the events sector, entertainment or community projects. They will also team up with Young Scot
to ensure that any young person taking part will get Young Scot Reward
points for their volunteering.
