Instinctively Wild is a CIC based in the Scottish Borders which offers a wide range of outdoor learning activities and training events with a focus on health, team-building, wellbeing and education.
The bulk of Instinctively Wild’s work takes place in a woodland setting, with activities such as bushcraft, shelter building, environmental art and campfire cooking used to engender strong social relationships.
Instinctively Wild deliver projects for a wide range of clients, including the NHS, local authorities, and third sector organisations including the Social Enterprise Academy, Thistle Foundation and Interest Link. It also runs corporate training events for the private and public sector.
Specially tailored programmes are also created to offer support to adults with issues ranging from dementia and mental health to addiction issues, as well as providing courses to promote the personal development of young people with behavioural issues.

Leadership Development & Team Building

These programmes help developing teamwork and leadership skills through hands-on outdoor activities such as bushcraft, shelter building, environmental art and campfire cooking can inspire fresh perspectives and flexible thinking, with additional benefits for communication, engagement, motivation, resilience and confidence.
Health Wellbeing Education
Instinctively Wild is a leader in therapeutic and skill-building outdoor experiences for adults and young people. They have a proven track record in delivery ecotherapy and well-being projects for vulnerable groups, in partnership with health boards, schools and other clients.
Ecotherapy is an approach to improving mental and physical well-being through engagement with the natural world. Guiding people back to nature through hands-on outdoor activities can bring many benefits, including improved self-esteem, confidence and resilience, and a sense of reconnection.
Children’s & Family Events
Instinctively Wild outdoor and bushcraft activities are a chance for children and families to have fun in the fresh air, and rediscover their inner Ray Mears...
Aimed at 8-14 year-olds, Eco-Kidz is a fun way for children to learn about the environment through hands-on outdoor learning, bushcraft and environmental education. Sessions are delivered by our trained Forest Schools and bushcraft leaders. The day is 9-5pm for the children.
