Inspire is an innovative organisation which trail blazes ground-breaking practices to improve the quality of life for people with learning disabilities in North East Scotland.
As one of the largest charities in Scotland, Inspire directly supports around 600 men, women and children from the age of 5 years old and upwards. Currently they provide 51 services, including 41 residential services, day services, support to people in their own homes, respite care, independent travel training, Same as You Local Link, 'Moving On' to independent living and holiday activity schemes.
The people they work with have a very wide range of abilities. Some need only a little support in making decisions and coping with the complexity of modern life. Others are very dependant on other people to help them meet their basic needs. Regardless of how disabled a person appears to be, we aim to provide them with opportunities for new experiences and increased responsibilities in all aspects of their lives.
One of Inspire`s newest initiatives is the Boulevard Project. This is a new social firm operating a restaurant and conference facilities, whilst providing progressive employment, training, recreational and social activities for people with learning disabilities.
Cafe Coast is a breath of fresh air for diners at the beach, offering a menu sourced with local products. Cafe Coast is now open for breakfast, lunch and snacks, Mon - Fri, 8am -5pm. We will be opening at weekends and for evening meals in 2008!
Inspire Conferences offers modern meeting and conferencing facilities for hire to voluntary, public and private sector organisations. Operating as a social firm the conference facilities provide unique training and employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities.
The Boulevard Project also has a Recreational Facility which allows people with learning disabilities to access a variety of opportunities otherwise unavailable to them due to space restrictions in the locale. Access to quality recreational facilities is imperative to people with learning disabilities; enabling friendships to develop as well as support to learn social skills and develop hobbies.
