The Wee Gallery

The Wee Gallery is a new social enterprise based in Kelso and headed up by serial social entrepreneur Diane Henderson.  The initiative aims to be inclusive and sustainable and to introduce new and exciting artistic talents to the Scottish Borders.

There will be around 10 exhibitions a year, themed to coincide with public events and seasonal activities, and will include exhibitions from schools, local arts and craft groups, commercial exhibitions and the occasional display of art for art’s sake. Socially inclusive exhibitions will be subsidised, commercial exhibitions will be charged an appropriate combination of a hiring charge and or commission on works sold.

The gallery is sited inside a former toilet block in the centre of Kelso, immediately adjacent to the largest car park in the town. The building already has its own social enterprise history having been the original home of Abbey Soft Play for 9 years until its recent expansion into the ACE Community Centre.

The Gallary opens its doors to the public for the first time on the 11th of July with an exhibition which is collaboration between local P7 pupils and artist Jane Gaze.
