Privacy
Reading these pages tells nobody else anything.
In the browser
Closemouth is a set of static pages built before anyone asks for them. Text and stylesheet both come from this domain. Pages carry no scripts, no analytics, no social media buttons and no fonts or pictures pulled in from elsewhere, so a visit reaches no outside server at all. Your device keeps nothing from a visit, whether as a cookie or in local storage. The site has no accounts, no comments and no mailing list.
On the server
The pages are served by nginx, which keeps an access log in the ordinary way. A line in that log holds the IP address that made the request, when it arrived, which page was requested, the status returned, the size of the response, the address of the previous page if the browser passes it on, and the user agent string. A separate error log notes failed requests and may also contain an IP address. Fresh log files are started every day, and each old file is removed once it is 14 days old. Someone reads them only when something is broken or when a flood of requests has to be stopped. They are not shared, sold or joined to any other data.
Writing to editor@senscot.net gives the site your email address and whatever the message contains. Both are used to reply to you and for no other purpose. Nobody else sees them, and the correspondence can be deleted if you ask.
Other websites
Some pieces cite a source published on another website. Opening one of those puts you on a server that Closemouth does not control, and the privacy terms of that site apply there.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can request a copy of any personal data held on you and have it erased. In practice that means at most a fortnight of log lines and any emails you have sent. Requests go to the address above.
